Bastion, Buck and Chuck are seen playing outside. As the sun sets, Buck and Chuck decide to go home before it gets dark. Bastion, however, just stays out. When he is all alone, a beam of light raises him into the sky. Watching from a distance, Cryptie sees the opportunity for some alien hunting.
Upon reaching the spacecraft, the aliens inject Bastion to a painful experiment. The Platypus Leader stops everyone in their tracks, telling them the moment has come. All the platypus aliens follow him, leaving Bastion chained to a table. A young platypus alien unknowingly frees him with the push of a button. Bastion curiously wants to peek at why the aliens left.
In another room, it is revealed that the aliens have perfected an experiment that will upgrade their race to a more terrifying degree. An alien kept in a chamber begins to undergo a transformation; developing sharp teeth, extra limbs and spikes on its tail. It is also now strong enough to burst open the chamber. Loving the results, the platypus Leader and the others line up to have themselves evolved.
Bastion, peeking from a wall, is shocked about this. He desperately tries to look for a way out. Just as most of the aliens finish their evolution, a signal alerts them that their prisoner escaped. With their new powers, the platypus aliens terrorize Bastion at every turn. He continues to run until finding an escape pod. He makes it out in the nick of time.
The ship gets hit by a large asteroid, breaking the evolution chambers. The acidic liquid melts the floor and controls, leading it to fall. As Bastion heads back to earth, Cryptie mistakes the pod for a UFO, so he fires a bazooka at it. The platypus ship then crushes Cryptie. Buck and Chuck head outside to investigate the noise. Chuck is splashed in the face by the alien liquid and mutates into a platypus, to Buck's horror.
